  • Year: 2013 - 2018 at Advocate, Supreme Court of India & Delhi High Court at New Delhi
    Description:

I conduct civil and criminal trials (including preparation of pleadings, evidence, cross-examination of witnesses and final arguments), appear as legal counsel on behalf of clients before the Supreme Court of India and native subordinate courts in civil litigation and arbitration. I advise clients on matters pertaining to family laws (probate and wills), inheritance claims, succession laws and land laws focusing on native title and residential conveyancing.

  • Year: 2016 - 2016 at Office of the President, United Nations Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (UN-MICT)
    Description:

I assisted the President's office on a variety of projects including drafting and reviewing assignment and sentencing orders; undertaking research on a plethora of legal propositions; due-diligence exercises; drafting minutes, notes and research memoranda besides fulfilling other specific judicial functions of the Tribunal as directed. Most often my tasks in terms of subject content spanned across issues pertaining to International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law and Public International Law in general. This not only made my work as a lawyer very fascinating but also helped me understand how the aforementioned subjects really played out together in practice. Be it procedures for filing refugee claims or assessing the legality of deportations with assurances, I was involved in a comparative analysis of different jurisdictions (including the U.K., U.S.A. and European Court of Human Rights etc.) on the International Law aspect on a daily basis. Additionally, I briefed the President on matters listed for the upcoming court hearings and prepared case notes on the pleadings filed by the parties before the Tribunal.

I also assisted my supervisor in taking notes during interview sessions and provided them with assistance in preparing Human Resources Reports for each of the candidates under consideration. Concomitantly, I provided legal support to the Judge's staff at the Arusha branch and assisted them in legal research, judgement drafting and performing cite checks for review and progress reports.
