Investigation Under Code of Criminal Procedure


Investigation means and includes all the proceedings under Code of Criminal Procedure in order to collect evidence. Such investigation can be carried out by either police or any person who is authorised by the Magistrate, who is duly authorised by him.

In the eyes of Supreme Court, investigation consists of the following two things

1. Proceeding to the spot

2. For the purpose of ascertaining facts and circumstances of the case.
