Appointment of High Court Judges are Happening, says CJI

Advocate Prashant Bhushan advanced that in a total of 9 incidents, the appointment is given no effect despite the recommendation by the Collegium and said "and this when the court has clearly held that once a candidate's name is reiterated, they have to be appointed! There are a lot of a cases where the government has not responded..."

the Bench was of the view that the Public Interest Litigation can be heard afterwards and hence the matter was listed for after nearly 6 weeks.

The petition alleged that the Center not notifying the names is violative of the Supreme Court judgment in Advocates-on-Record Assn. v. Union of India, (1993). The Court, by giving the next date, said that:

"No, not a lot. Appointments are happening! We don't want to say anymore right now...Just wait…”
