Won't interfere with CLAT-2018 counselling, says Supreme Court

Despite continuous complaints raised over online technical glitches by the CLAT aspirants, the Supreme Court stood firm by its decision of not allowing a‘re-test’ of the CLAT-2018 exam.

A Vacation Bench comprising of Justices U.U. Lalit and Deepak Gupta, however, accepted a formula devised by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) that helps determine how affected candidates will be compensated.

Advocates V. Giri and Karthik Ashok, representing the NUALS, submitted the formula to the SC bench on Monday. The advocates also told the court that the formula has been tried out successfully in the case of four of the petitioner-students. The SC bench then insisted that the formula be applied to all the candidates who lost time during the CLAT exam.

The court further said that the students whose marks are adjusted using the formula should be accommodated in the second round of counselling.

The case is scheduled for next hearing on June 13.
