The President of India has appointed three Advocates as Additional Judges of the Punjab & Haryana High Court vide notification dated 24.10.2019.

While exercising powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President appointed Sh. Suvir Sehgal, Sh. Girish Agnihotri and Smt. Alka Sarin, to be Additional Judges of P&H HC.

The Notification was released by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India.

The newly appointed Addl. Judges will assume their offices for a period of two years and in the above given order of seniority.

Suvir Sehgal is the former senior standing counsel for UT of Chandigarh and Son of Retd. Justice D.V. Sehgal.

Girish Agnihotri is the son of Retd. Justice M.R. Agnihotri.

Alka Sarin has been former Addl. Advocate General for Punjab.

The SC Collegium had also recommended the names of Advocates Jasgurpreet Singh Puri and Kamal Sehgal for elevation to the High Court but the Notification issued on Thursday is silent with respect to the same.
