SC Refuses to Hear the Urgent Hearing Plea Filed By Karti Chidambaram

The Top Court rejected to give urgent hearing to Karti Chidambaram, an accused in Aircel-Maxis case, seeking permission to travel abroad.

A plea sought for an urgent hearing was filed by the Senior Counsel K. V. Vishwanathan.

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi stated that “We are not interested We have better things to and We will see what can be done.”

Last year In July the Apex Court had allowed Karti Chidambaram to travel to USA, UK and France for about a week.

In November again, he returned to the Supreme Court for permission to travel abroad, the SC made it clear that this was not a matter which deserved an out-of-turn hearing.

Karti Chidambaram is son of former Home Minister and Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, is being investigated by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate in the Aircel-Maxis and INX media case relating to the clearance by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to receive foreign funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore when his father was the finance minister.
