SC refuses to allow Indigo to continue operations from T1

New Delhi: A SC bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice D Y Chandrachud rejected IndiGo’s plea challenging a Delhi high court order to shift its operations partially from Terminal 1 (T1) of Delhi’s IGI Airport to Terminal 2 (T2). It refused to interfere with the Delhi HC, Feb 13 order, by which IndiGo was supposed to shift its operations partially to T2. The HC had given a relief to both IndiGo and SpiceJet by granting them time to workout scheduling of transition in consultation with DIAL.

The company said it would follow the Supreme Court’s order and shift some of its flights from one terminal to another at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport in the coming weeks.

The SC has given both the airlines, IndiGo and SpiceJet time till 3rd March to approach airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) for rescheduling their flights.

The top court also laid out the timeline for shifting of operations. It said that after the airlines share details of flights that can be relocated, DIAL will have to take a decision between seven to ten days. Following this, DIAL will inform IndiGo, which will have to comply with the same within ten days.
