Prime Minister Modi urges Indians to light diyas, candles or the flashlights of mobile phones at 9 p.m. this Sunday to show solidarity of the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged that Indians should stand together in the fight against coronavirus. PM Modi has asked Indians to turn off the lights in their homes and light candles, diyas or the mobile flashlight for nine minutes at 9 pm on April 5 in an effort to demonstrate the solidarity of 1.3 billion people.

We are at home during lockdown, but we are not alone as collective strength of entire country is with each one of us. I want 9 minutes of yours on 5th April at 9p.m. Switch off all cameras, stand on the balcony or gate with the bright light of a lamp, torch, or cell phone”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated.

He said in his video message that people and authorities have been working together to enforce the restriction on lockdown. Other countries were motivated by the implementation ofJanata curfew and by the country's applause to its frontline warriors. It has been proved we can fight together against coronavirus. He spoke with all states’ chief ministers on Thursday urging them to concentrate on monitoring, tracing, isolation, and quarantine measures in order to reduce the spread of the deadly virus.

He further said, "We must move towards the light. We must take the ones who are affected the most -- the ones with fewer resources -- towards hope. We must move past the darkness and uncertainty that has been created and go towards the light”. PM Modi said this exercise would demonstrate the nation’s unity. He added that the focus must be shed upon the ones most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
