Plea Challenging The Constitutional Validity Of ''Triple Talaq'' Ordinance Dismissed by Supreme Court

A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi dismissed a plea of a Kerala-based outfit and said it will not like to interfere in the plea challenging the constitutional validity of an ordinance which makes the practice of instant 'triple talaq' a punishable offence.
Triple talaq is a type of divorce given instantly in which a Muslim man can get divorce from his legally wedded wife by pronouncing "talaq talaq talaq".
This ordinance which made the practice of instant 'triple talaq' a punishable offence was issued for the third time on February 21.
