New Year Horror: NCW Issues Notice To Karnataka Home Minister For Insensitive Remark

The National Commission For Women issued a notice to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara and Bengaluru Police seeking an immediate reply for their callous response on women being harassed and molested during New Year celebrations in the Karnataka Capital.

A separate notice was also issued to G Parmeshwara as he defended the State Police saying that such incidents “happen” at “such events.”

“On events like New Years or Christmas, women are harassed and treated badly. These kind of things do happen,” the Karnataka Home Minister had said on Monday.

As the world was making merry and celebrating the New Year, Bengaluru witnessed a horrific scene as women were molested during the celebrations at MG Road and Brigade Road in the Karnataka Capital.

Goons on bikes molested women and also passed lewd comments inspite of almost 1500 policemen being deployed in the area.

The Commissioner of the areas in question excused themselves as they claimed that they had not received any complaints.

Women have been quoted as saying that they were severely molested and groped on the streets as the grisly images of the commotion was made available in the form of camera footage.

G Parameshwara assumed office as the Home Minister of Karnataka in October 2015.
