New SC Roster published, three more judges to head Benches

A new roster of cases to be heard by the judges of the Supreme Court of India has been published. The new SC roster will take effect from Monday, November 19.

Three more judges will head Benches, after the appointment of four new judges. The three judges who will be heading Benches are Justices AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud, and Ashok Bhushan.

Among the judges who will be heading the Bench for the first time, Justice Chandrachud will hear appeals against orders of statutory bodies. Besides Chandrachud J., Justices AK Sikri and Rohinton Nariman have already been hearing those matters and will continue to do so. Hence, a lot of commercial cases and appeals against various Tribunals are likely to be listed before the Benches headed by these three judges.

Besides, the above matters, Justice Chandrachud will hear Tax and Service matters, matters relating to Religious and Charitable endowments and Armed Forces.

Justice AM Khanwilkar, who is another judge to head the Bench, will hear cases relating to SARFAESI, land law, and Excise. Besides that, he will also be allocated Indirect Tax cases, Criminal matters, and Ordinary Civil matters.
