Najeeb case: HC asks lab to submit phone details by March 19

New Delhi : A bench of Delhi HC comprising of Justice S Muralidhar and Justice I S Mehta have expressed serious reservation on the delay of examination of the mobile phones of nine students who are suspected to be involved in the disappearance of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed.

CBI counsel Nikhil Goel  told the court that the CBI had sent several reminders to the Chandigarh based CFSL lab and with regards to the same an official of the CBI had even visited the lab on February 9.The lab promised speedy analysis.

On listening to this, the court expressed its displeasure in the delay and asked the lab to submit its report in the court by March 19.

The 28 year old JNU student, Najeeb has been missing since October 15, 2016. A night before his disappearance he is supposed to have scuffle with students allegedly belonging to ABVP.

His disappearance has become a major political issue and understanding the sensitivity of the case, court had handed over the probe to CBI in May last year.
