Hisar Court acquits Rampal in two cases: defence termed it “Victory of truth”

A Hisar Court today acquitted the self-proclaimed godman Sant Rampal, founder of “Satlok Ashram” in two criminal cases filed against him after both eyewitnesses and the accusers turned hostile. He may have released from two charges but complete freedom is still far away from him as two more criminal cases are still pending against him. He will “therefore” remain confined as he is still accused in murder and sedition cases and suspected to have links in total 11 heinous crimes, one of them is related to a villager who shot dead in Hisar.

Public prosecutor Rajesh Chaudhary stated that he will be remained confined.

Rampal’s turn after Ram Rahim

Court trials in prison premises are getting trendy nowadays, as just a day before a Special CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh inside the Rohtak Jail, sentenced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment to Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh without showing any mercy to his pleas.

Allegations on Rampal

Rampal was seized under the allegation of having relations in a case comprising his followers, who commenced firing at villagers in Rohtak, killing one person and injured several others. His arrest orders were issued after he allegedly tried 43 times to evade the court trials. When the forces appeared at his Ashram to nab him, his followers formed a human shield to repel forces, prevented them to break into the Ashram. Soon, forces learned that Rampal will not surrender harmoniously, they cut-off the water and electric supply to the Ashram in order to lure them out. The standoff continued for two weeks.

Five women and a child died in resistance

He was held accused of obstructing official duty and creating a hostage situation, preventing security officials to perform their duties, and evading arrests several times. He also had connections in the violence performed outside his Ashram by his followers to resist the forces, which claimed lives of five women and a child.

Victory of Truth”, defence calls it.

A local Court outside the Hisar Central jail has been set up to pronounce the verdict. His Lawyer A P Singh termed the acquittal of Rampal as the “Victory of Truth”.
