Delhi High Court hints at allowing physical hearings soon

While hearing matters, Delhi High Court Chief Justice D.N. Patel stated that physical hearings are to be resumed soon. During the hearing of a particular plea, Chief Justice had mentioned that the court will prefer hearing the matter on a physical mode.

While hearing another case, it was said that there will be three divisional bench, two single bench on the civil side accordingly. This decision was taken just after a meeting between Bar Council of Delhi and Co-ordination Committee of All Bar Associations including DHCBA where it was decided that all courts, tribunals and sub-ordinates will be resuming physical hearing mode from 18th January, 2021.

It was suggested by counsels during several hearings that virtual hearing mode should be kept as an option for court hearings alongside with physical mode to which Chief Justice D.N. Patel replied that virtual modes will only be conducted on vacations or holidays.

Although, as of now, there has been no official notification as to when the physical hearings will start to function.

While hearing another case on 12th January, 2021, Delhi High Court mentioned that physical hearings will start soon and the matters will be listed accordingly between 12th February to 19th February, 2021 and hence it is assumed that physical hearings will start being conducted between these mentioned dates.
