Delhi HC Directs Delhi Government To File Status Report Indicating The Amount Released To Nr.DMC For Payment Of Teachers

The Government of NCDT until now did not release the payment of the salary which is due to Nr.DMC for the month of June, 2020. Senior Counsel Mr. Phoolka and standing counsel Ms Pushkarna, both appeared on behalf of North Municipal and stated that salary for 9000 teachers was released for the month of February, but only 5,400 teachers got their salary for the month of March who are employed by the Nr.DMC on Covid duties. The rest 3600 teachers did not receive their salary, and no salary was received to any teachers for three months that is from April, 2020 till June 2020.

Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad has directed the Department of Education and Urban Development Department to file a report where it will clearly shows the details of the amount which are due and payable for the financial year 2020-21.

The Court also ordered the North Municipal Corporation of Delhi to file a status report showing the sum that has been issued to its teachers and the number of teachers who have earned this sum and for which duration.

The Court has been informed by the Delhi Government, Department of an education order dated 24.07.2020 (GNCTD) which approved an amount of Rs 49.17 crores to the Nr.DMC for the Grant in Assistance for the Disbursement of Wages to Teachers of the Nr.DMC for April 2020 under the Primary Education Scheme for the year 2020-21.

The Court also directed to Nr.DMC to file a status report in a tabular form in which it must clearly show the required amount that should be disbursed in the year 2021 payable to teachers and also the salary that have to be released till the quarter ending June 2020.

The Delhi High Court turned this case Sorry State of affairs as the teachers who belong to a noble profession and also Covid -19 warriors were not getting their salary on time.

The next hearing of this matter is on July 9, 2020.
