Centre notifies appointment of 10 judges in Telangana, Orissa high courts, 4 additional judges in Kerala High Court

NEW DELHI: The Central government announced and approved the appointment of 12 judicial officers, a lawyer, as well as a member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal as judges of the Telangana and Orissa High Courts, as well as four additional judges of the Kerala High Court.

"In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, President Ram Nath Kovind, in consultation with Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana, is pleased to appoint the following judicial officers as judges and additional judges of three High Courts," as per the Union Ministry of Law and Justice.

The names of six judicial officers and an ITAT member have been approved as judges of the Telangana High Court by the Centre. Perugu Sree Sudha, Dr Chillakur Sumalatha, Dr Gurijala Radha Rani, Munnuri Laxman, Noonsavath Tukaramji, and Addula Venkateshwara Reddy are among the judicial officers. In addition, ITAT member Patlolla Madhavi Devi was appointed to the Telangana High Court as a judge. On August 17, the Supreme Court Collegium made a recommendation to the Centre in this regard.

The appointment of an advocate and two judicial officers as judges of the Orissa High Court has been announced by the Union government. Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo, an advocate, and judicial officers Radha Krishna Pattanaik and Sashikanta Mishra are among them. On September 29, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended their names to the Centre.

The names of four judicial officers were also approved as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court. Chandrasekharan Sudha, Sophy Thomas, Puthen Veedu Gopala Pillai Ajithkumar, and Chandrasekharan Kartha Jayachandran are among them. On September 1, the Supreme Court Collegium delivered its recommendations to the Centre.
