BCI has urged the Centre to provide iPads and laptops to needy lawyers

In order to enable the needy lawyers in the country to avail the facility of e-filing and virtual courts hearings, the Bar Council of India has urged the Center and State governments to provide iPads and laptops.

In addition to iPads and laptops, BCI has urged the Government to provide "free and effective Wifi connections in the premises of all the bar associations of the country with advanced scanners and advanced computer systems".

In a resolution passed on Wednesday, 12.08.2020, BCI has further requested the Supreme Court and the High Courts to resume physical hearings in open courts after laying down and making efforts for ensuring the effective norms of social distancing.

BCI has also stated that the E-Committees at the high court level have also been requested to provide two expert trainers for each bar association in the country, who could train the members of the bar for e-filing and virtual hearings.

Therefore, BCI has sought Government's vital support and encouragement to achieve the objectives of entire legal fraternity and beat the crisis created by the pandemic.
