Bar Council of Delhi to provide monetary assistance to needy lawyers in this difficult phase

In an unexpected move, the Delhi Bar Council has unanimously agreed to provide financial assistance to the distressed advocates in the backdrop of the on-going lockdown because of the Coronavirus.

KC Mittal, Chairman of Delhi Bar Council said, "People are confined, they are unable to go to court but they have to sustain. In such situations, you have to share the responsibility. The idea to help as far as possible. He thinks we will be able to do some good things"

Every Advocate has to be provided with the money in pursuant of a majority decision in which a total sum of Rs. 2,31,95,000/- (Rupees Two Crore Thirty One Lacs and Ninety Five Thousand) was received.

 BCD Chairman Mr. K.C. Mittal also told that he had given BCD a payment of Rs. 50,000 for welfare and asked all senior lawyers and other senior colleagues to contribute generously to the welfare of the needy lawyers.

A message from BCD which is being circulated states, "We humbly request all BCD members, Senior Advocates and other Senior Colleagues at the Bar to generously contribute for the welfare of the Advocates. We make a special mention of Mr. Amarjit Singh Chandok and Mr. N. Hariharan, Senior Advocates, for their contribution of Rs. 5 lacs each”.

It is also further directed that all the Bar council members must join forces to fight this Covid-19 pandemic together.
