Society for Non-Human Persons (SNHP), at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore is hosting its 3rd Edition of the Humane Society International, India Presents NLS Animal Protection PIL Competition from the 19th to 21st of April, 2019.

SNHP improves the welfare of animals and increases awareness of animal rights in society, especially in the legal community. To this extent SNHP organises vaccination drives and provides medical aid to distressed animals. SNHP organises conferences and talks on animal rights as part of increasing awareness in the legal community. The NLS Animal Protection PIL Competition is the only competition of its kind in the country. It has attracted multitudes of students over the years since it’s inception two years ago.

The Competition is to be held over two stages: Memorial qualification round and oral rounds. The aim of the Competition is to provide students all over India an opportunity to develop knowledge in the field of Animal Welfare Law and Constitutional law while honing their written and oral advocacy skills.

You can choose any one theme from the three given themes and file a PIL in the court of your choice.

The last date for submitting clarifications is 10th March 2019 and for registration is 15th March 2019.


Eligibility

All the law school, faculties of these schools and Universities which offer a law degree can participate in the Competition. Each participating University can send a maximum of 3 teams. Members of the team must be valid Undergraduate students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law program.


Team Composition

Each participating team can compose of 2-3 members. It has to be specified that which two team members will be speaking in a round, prior to commencement of that particular round.

Cross University teams are also allowed in the competition. Meaning thereby that the members of a team not necessarily be from the same University. However, each member of the team must be valid Undergraduate students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law program.

Registration

The teams have to complete an Online Registration Form which will be available before 12:00 am on the 15th of March, 2019.

Registration Fee

The Registration Fee for the Competition (Rs. 4,500/-) is to be paid through a wire transfer, the details of which are contained in Annexure-1 of the rules.
