SupremeCourt to hear a plea filed by All India Judges Association for payment of pension to retired judges on par with in-service judges.

Bench: One of the IAs will be listed after vacation.

Amicus: I have filed a chart in another IA given the particulars of states which have complied with the order dated 05.04.2022 and those states which have not complied.

Order: The states which have not complied with the order of the court dated 05.04.2022 must comply with it and then, report to be sent to the amicus.

Adv: Another IA is there which is filed by Calcutta High Court for holistic construction of infrastructure for the subordinate judges. This will impact the situation all across India.

Bench: Please place it before the 3 judges' bench.

Amicus: In 2010 your lordships have approved that the retired district judge shall get benefits such as of the district judge in service. This includes medical bills etc.

Adv: Give me some time in this milords, i will file another IA.

Amicus: I will also file one IA with respect to this.

Order: The High Court allowed the writ petition and directed the state government to implement the recommendation of the Shri Padmanabhan Committee and to extend the medical facilities of reimbursement which was applicable to the serving officers to the respondent (retd judge).

Order: the State of Maharashtra has filed the SLP challenging the said order of the High Court. Justice Padmanabhan Committee report dealt with medical benefit to retired judges. This court by an order dated 26.07.2010 approved the recommendation… Continue Reading...
