On Friday, (May 15th, 2020) air travelers were mandatorily asked by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to download the Aarogya Setu app, do a web-check in, and always carry a printout of their boarding passes before boarding a flight.

AAI who manages about 100 airports across the country, said that air passengers must maintain a distance of four feet from co-travelers, wear a mask and other protective gear, and always wash and sanitize their hands while carrying a 350 ml bottle of sanitizer at all the times.

Contending to this, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) also stated earlier in the week that air travelers would be permitted to carry up to 350 ml of hand sanitizer on a flight. 

The report stated - “With the possibility of resumption of domestic flights soon, the AAI has released some steps that must be followed so passengers are fully geared up while traveling.” It was further added that “Guidelines to be adhered by all passengers; mandatorily download Aarogya Setu App, wear a mask and other protective gear, maintain 4-feet physical distance from co-passengers, do web-check in, carry a 350 ml bottle of sanitizer all the time and cooperate with the airport staff.”

With the help of the government-owned Aarogya Setu app, Colour coded-status is given to the users per their health status and travel history.
