About the workshop: The two sessions focus on game-theoretical principles to answer some of the most complex issues around climate change management and global commons, and on the foundational principles in economics and law that form the basis of policy action in the realm of climate governance.

Session 1: ‘Climate Governance: Policy Paradigms to Strengthen SDG13 (Climate Action)’ is a 2-hour workshop that covers some of the foundational principles that form the bedrock of policy and legislation to curb air and water pollution. It delves into the logic and philosophical underpinnings of climate change policy to offer an inside view into the mental models of tackling some of the most intractable problems facing the planet today. The workshop also discusses laws and fundamental legal thinking around climate change policy.

Session 2: ‘Game Theory and Systems Thinking for Global Commons’ is a 2-hour workshop that delves into the problem of collective action through a game theoretical lense. The aim of this workshop is to give handy tools to future policymakers to help them bring about cooperation towards climate change policies. This workshop delves into the various strategies policymakers can adopt to bring about effective action to address climate change and manage global commons. The workshop also utilizes paradigms of systems thinking to understand unintended consequences of various policies, and to spark new and innovative ideas to manage public goods more effectively.
