Form J-1


The purpose of this form is served under chapter I, Part VII of the Bar Council of India rules, 1975 which states disciplinary proceedings and reviews and complaints against advocates and procedure to be followed by disciplinary committees of the State Bar Council and the Bar Council of India. The Bar Council of India is a statutory body established under the section 4 of advocates Act 1961 that regulates the legal practice and legal education in India. Its members are elected from amongst the lawyers in India and as such represents the Indian bar and so it also reserves the rights to bring disciplinary actions against these advocates. The complaint against an advocate is to be made by a petition as this document asks for.  Every complaint is prescribed by a fee as this Act specifies. It basically deals with the disciplinary action taken against an advocate by way of disciplinary proceedings by the Bar Council of India.
