What Legal measures you can take to stop your employee from stealing clients

In this competitive world where you see so many new companies are coming up, you will find good competition too. This competition leads to rivalry, enemies, opponents etc. If your organization is doing well then everybody want to steal potential clients of your organization so that they can grow their business in the same way you do. There are chances that when you are in a phase of growing your business at a good pace then your company employees even indulge in stealing your client so that they can start their own venture. Although technologically having robust firewall IT framework can avoid date theft but what if an employee is caught red handed stealing the data/client of your company, then you can do below mentioned things:

  1. Always make sure that you add professional misconduct clause in your contract with the employees says that you can immediately fire an employee without any notice in case there is any professional misconduct or steal of important information.
  2. The employee should be asked to sign severance agreement which states that any employee if caught stealing information then he will have to make full and final settlement of the dues with the organization.
  3. Protection under copyright act- in case any information stolen is being protected under copyright act, like software and different databases are covered copyright act (section 63) and civil proceeding are maintainable.
