West Point grad has ties to Dunkirk

WEST POINT — Cadet Kevin J. Dupuis, son of Mary and Michael Dupuis of Friendswood, Texas, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday, June 13. Kevin is the grandson of Natalie and Jerome Gavin of Dunkirk, New York.

2LT Dupuis graduated from Friendswood High School in 2016. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in International Law and Legal Studies. At graduation he was awarded the Superintendent’s Award for Achievement. This is awarded to the top 15% of each class for outstanding performance in all three programs: Academic, Military and Physical. The Award consists of a Gold Wreath. 2LT Dupuis was named to the Dean’s List all eight semesters he attended West Point.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Aviation branch and will report to Fort Rucker, Ala., for his first assignment this summer.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army.
