Call for Papers: Indian Journal of International and Comparative Law (Submit by April 05)

The Indian Journal of International and Comparative Law is a peer-reviewed journal which seeks to publish articles on public and private international law, and comparative law. The journal is biannual and will be published by Thomson Reuters.

This is a call for papers for the journal’s inaugural volume.

The purpose of the journal remains to bring contemporary Indian and international legal issues to the fore, to inform the public and also aid government in policy planning. We aim to publish original and innovative papers contributing significantly to the field of international law. Notes and comments on current developments of international law are welcome. The journal includes a separate section for book reviews.

Eligibility

The journal welcomes the participation of professors, lawyers, experts, research scholars and students. Work submitted for publication in the journal must be original and not under consideration for publication by other organisations and/or journals.

Submission Deadline

Submission deadlines in the Call for Papers released biannually have to be strictly followed. The papers shall be submitted by Monday, April 5, 2021 for the first issue.

In the event that a paper is authored by more than one author, all correspondences from and to the journal shall be made to the primary author i.e., the author from whose email address the paper is received at the first instance.

Themes

The journal requires the authors to make their submissions on the themes given below.

a. International investment law and armed conflict

b. International investment, and ICSID

c. International investment and digital economy

d. Emerging trends in international investment arbitration and dispute resolution

e. Fragmentation of international law and its impact on international investment law

Submission Categories

• Articles (12,000 words (maximum), exclusive of footnotes): Submissions should be analytical and focussed on a scholarly study of issues. The paper may be either doctrinal or theoretical (or both).

• Case Comments (2,500--4,000 words, exclusive of footnotes): Case comments may deal with a contemporary judgement in the field of either international law or comparative law. They can also include interpretation of any landmark judicial pronouncement on any contemporary legal issue.

• Essays/Comments/Notes (4,000—6,000 words, exclusive of footnotes): Submissions for the essays (descriptive) comments and notes section, must be concise in their analysis and should deal with recent developments in international law or comparative law.

• Book reviews (2,000 - 4,000 words, exclusive of footnotes): The review must be critical in nature and should deal with books related to international/comparative law.

Guidelines for Submission

• The submissions must adhere to the general ambit of themes mentioned above.

• All the submissions must be in MS Word format (.doc) or (.docx) with the font being Times New Roman (main text: 12 pt and 1.5 line spacing; footnotes: 10 pt and single spaced).

• An abstract of not more than 500 words should be incorporated in the paper.

• Co-authorship (up to two authors) is permitted.

• There should be no reference to personal information of the author(s) in the text of the article or the file name.

• The manuscripts must comply with the 20th edition of the Harvard Bluebook Citation or our independent guide for citations available below.

• Any manuscript with plagiarism percentage above 20 percent, will be rejected outright.

• The authors of submitted papers shall be informed about the status of their papers (whether accepted or rejected) not later than three weeks from the date of submission.

• In case of acceptance of a manuscript, the author will be provided with feedback of the editorial board, and will be given reasonable time for the submission of a revised manuscript incorporating the same.
